Relationship OCD: A Clinical Dialogue

This course explores the complex presentation and clinical management of Relationship Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (ROCD), a specialized subtype of OCD characterized by chronic doubts and distressing preoccupations regarding one’s romantic relationship or partner. Clinicians will learn to differentiate ROCD from normal relationship ambivalence or distress by analyzing its distinct cognitive-behavioral mechanisms, including relentless reassurance-seeking, mental checking, and partner-comparing. The curriculum provides a practical therapeutic framework utilizing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles to help patients break the cycle of obsessive doubting and build healthier, value-driven relational patterns.
