Dyslipidemia is characterized by abnormal levels of lipids in the blood, including elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), elevated triglycerides, and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). It is a major modifiable risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), which encompasses coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, and peripheral arterial disease. While dyslipidemia often remains asymptomatic, it can lead to significant morbidity and mortality over time. The rising prevalence of sedentary lifestyles, high-calorie diets, obesity, and metabolic disorders like diabetes has made dyslipidemia a pressing public health concern worldwide.
