This course offers a state-of-the-art review of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), formerly known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). As the most common cause of chronic liver disease worldwide, MASLD requires a paradigm shift in how clinicians approach patients with metabolic syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Participants will learn the pathophysiology behind hepatic fat accumulation and inflammation, as well as the progression toward more severe forms like Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH) and cirrhosis. The program emphasizes early identification through non-invasive testing and highlights the importance of managing cardiovascular risk as a priority in patient care, alongside lifestyle-based interventions and the evolving role of pharmacological therapy.
